LETTER OF
The GOSPEL TRUTH CHARLES G. FINNEY
1860
To John Moody
14 April 1860
[MS in Finney Papers, Supplement # 80]
Houghton. 14th April. 1860.
My Dear Br. Moody.
Yours of the 9th came duly.
We are getting a little rested I hope.
We expect. D.V. to return to Manchester
on Wed. next. To commence labor there
on Sab. the 22d. Our labors there are to be
in connexion with the Independents.
We have not heard from Oshkosh since I wrote
you. Why did Mr. Emmerson get your agent
to bid in that Mill? Was it to make a
business for him? Did the agent bid it in
without any order from you to do so? If so
he is a singular agent. The state of things
at Bolton remains highly interesting.
I do not yet see my way very clear to return to
America. May do so in a few weeks. Where
do you purpose to go. Please keep us posted
in regard to your designs in this regard.
Mrs. F. is better. Since writing the above I have recd
yours of the 13th A letter directed to Manchester
P.O. will reach us after Wednesday of next week.
You will see us of course on your way to Liverpool.
When you come you will find us D.V. at
Mrs. Dr. Patricks. Dr. Hayles name on the door.
[page 2]
Dr. Hughes, Chatham St. Picadilly. Manchester.
When you come please let us know that we
may be at our lodgings.
Your Br.
C. G. Finney.
